Electro Deposition Facilities
Electro Deposition Facilities
UCC specializes in lining and protecting all wetted surfaces in electrocoat (e-coat) systems—ensuring complete electrical insulation and long-term protection against abrasion, impact, and chemical exposure. Major manufacturers rely on our systems to ensure e-coat operations run safely and efficiently.
Lining Process
-
Abrasive Grit Blasting: Surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and profiled for maximum adhesion.
-
Controlled Environment: Tanks are sealed and ventilated with filtered exhaust to prevent contamination.
-
Temperature Monitoring: The steel temperature is continuously monitored throughout the application to ensure proper curing and adhesion.
Lining System
-
Material: Silica-filled, glass-reinforced, modified epoxy (silicone-free).
-
Thickness: Typically 1/8″ to 3/16″, depending on tank location and use.
-
Coverage: Dip tanks, weir tanks, pump wells, and all areas in contact with electrified paint.
Inspection & Quality Control
-
High Voltage Spark Testing: Ensures no electrical leaks (tested at 100 volts per mil).
-
Thickness Verification: Confirmed with magnetic or electronic film testing devices to meet spec.
FRP Components
To enhance nonconductive performance and durability, UCC also fabricates and installs FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) parts, including:
-
Anode and pipe supports
-
Crash/rub rails
-
Adjustable weirs
-
Grating, steps, and ladders
-
Sweep and radius corners
-
Shields and other custom nonconductive components
All FRP components are designed to resist e-coat paint and cleaning chemicals while maintaining electrical isolation.
Expertise & Training
Ultimate Corrosion Control technicians are factory-trained by Ceilcote International in surface preparation, lining application, inspection, and system performance—ensuring every installation meets the highest industry standards.

Lining Installation inside the Electro Coat Tank

Tank Lining Surface Preparation
Abrasive grit blasting involves covering and sealing the tank from the plant area, exhausting it to the outside atmosphere through a filtering system to prevent contamination of the plant. Steel surface temperature is constantly monitored to avoid material application problems.

Lining Applications and Inspection
All interior surfaces of the dip tank, weir tank and pump wells are lined with silica-filled, glass-reinforced, modified epoxy lining (silicone free) and applied to a thickness of between 1/8"—3/16".

An electronic or magnetic film tester is used to insure a minimum thickness of the lining is obtained.
All lined surfaces are verified electrically leak free. A high voltage spark tester is used in testing procedures set at 100 Volts per mil of thickness.
